About the event
Camping and cooking over an open fire doesn't have to mean eating only freeze dried foods and hot dogs. Don't get me wrong, hot dogs are great, but a cast iron dutch oven or skillet meal can be easy and delicious. Our camping cooking class is scheduled for May 5th at the Hickory Hill Bloomington Street shelter. After registration and introductions, we plan to go on a short foraging hike to find wild edibles for our meal, and then we'll teach you how to prep these edibles for cooking and eating. There will be several different stations to learn how to use cast iron ware and foil packets to produce gourmet meals while camping. Experienced foragers and camping "chefs" will be on hand to instruct, demonstrate, and answer questions. Come hungry! Register Here!
